Stable Cell Line Selection Service
The most commonly used method to study the function of a gene is to overexpress the gene in host cells or knock-down the gene by RNA interference. The conventional methods include transient transfection and selection of stable cell lines. Screening out stable cell lines with overexpression of the gene or RNA interference will bring great convenience to your experiment. With stable cell lines, later Co-IP or Pull-Down experiments will be very convenient; cell lines stably expressing recombinant fluorescent proteins can allow you to dynamically observe the movement of molecules in cells. The basic principle of constructing a stable cell line is to clone the foreign DNA into a vector with a certain resistance, the vector is transfected into the host cell and integrated into the host chromosome, and the resistance marker contained in the vector is used for screening. The most commonly used eukaryotic expression vector resistance screening markers are neomycin, hygromycin and puromycin. G418 is commonly used instead of neomycin for selective screening. Stably express the target protein, or stably express a cell line that silences a specific gene.

Therefore, lentivirus is often used to prepare monoclonal cell lines that stably express/silence specific genes.
